Anti-AIDS kite flying contest at Ancol
JAKARTA: The Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) will organize a kite flying contest at Ancol beach in North Jakarta on Sunday, Dec. 1, in commemoration of World AIDS Day.
The contest, themed "Fight AIDS, not the People (with AIDS)", is open for all kite lovers in Greater Jakarta.
Meanwhile, about 2,000 high school students are expected to join a parade organized by the Indonesian AIDS Foundation at the Bung Karno Sports Center in Senayan, South Jakarta, on Saturday at 3 p.m.
The parade will be followed by a concert at Taman Ria Senayan.
The event is being organized in cooperation with Gadis magazine and Levi's Strauss, Trans TV and MTV on Sky radio.
On Saturday from 2 p.m., the Pelita Ilmu Foundation is to launch a campaign to improve public awareness on HIV/AIDS. The activities are to take place in Blok M Mall, Kalibata Mall, Senen railway station and Kota railway station.
A similar campaign was held by anti-AIDS activist Baby Jim Aditya at the women's penitentiary in Tangerang on Friday evening. --JP
