Anthropic Opens AI Fellowship with Rp 1.5 Billion Salary, but Indonesians Likely Ineligible

US-based AI company Anthropic has launched a fellowship programme offering a salary of US$85,000 (approximately Rp 1.5 billion) per year to help non-profit organisations adopt artificial intelligence. The programme, named Claude Corps, will place early-career workers in various non-profit organisations for one year to assist with AI integration into their operations. According to the company’s official announcement, Anthropic has allocated an initial fund of US$150 million to train 1,000 participants using Claude. The first cohort of 100 participants will begin work in October 2026, with registration open until 17 July 2026. At least 400 non-profit organisations will host the fellows. However, Indonesian citizens are unlikely to be eligible, as the programme places fellows in non-profit organisations across the United States. There has been no further statement regarding the availability of the programme for applicants from outside the US. Anthropic is only funding and directing the programme, not acting as the direct employer. The official employer for the programme is CodePath, a US-based non-profit organisation, while Social Finance handles measurement and evaluation. The programme focuses on the practical application of AI, so participants are not required to have prompt engineering skills or a computer science background. Anyone over the age of 18 with less than two years of full-time work experience can apply, regardless of educational background. For Indonesian citizens, available AI training programmes include cooperation between the government and global technology companies. For instance, a partnership between the National Civil Service Agency (BKN) and Microsoft Indonesia will provide training and digital leadership capacity building for 145,000 civil servants (ASN) to face the era of artificial intelligence. BKN Head Zudan stated that bureaucratic transformation in the AI era is no longer a choice but a necessity that must be immediately addressed by all civil servants. AI development will fundamentally change the way government works, especially since many administrative and routine tasks can now be performed automatically by technology. BKN itself has implemented various AI-based innovations, such as the AI Chatbot BKN (Melinda), AI Proctoring in the CAT system, automatic personnel document classification, and automated document verification and validation.
