Anthropic Launches Claude Design, an AI Designer Rival to Figma and Adobe
Anthropic’s foray into the artificial intelligence (AI) industry shows no signs of slowing down. Following the release of its most advanced language model, Claude Opus 4.7, the startup has thrown down a new gauntlet to the technology market with the launch of Claude Design. Claude Design is an AI tool that enables users to turn ordinary text prompts into visual products. Users can now design application prototypes (UI/UX), presentation slides, marketing posters, and other visual products—all without needing a background in graphic design education. The arrival of Claude Design has immediately raised alarm bells for the dominant players in the design software industry, such as Figma, Adobe, and Canva. Powered by Claude Opus 4.7, Claude Design operates with remarkable intuitiveness. Users simply describe their design needs in everyday language. Once the AI generates an initial version of the design, users are not left with a raw output. Claude Design provides various advanced editing controls, allowing users to refine and revise the prototype with precision. Impressively, the tool is designed not to isolate itself from existing company workflows. Users can easily import codebases, documents, and company images into Claude Design without disrupting the established brand design system identity. For marketers, product managers, and software developers, this tool serves as an instant bridge that transforms rough ideas into presentation-ready visual products. This move marks a significant transition for Anthropic—from being a mere provider of “invisible” foundational AI models to evolving into a product company ready to guide users’ ideas from rough sketches to final products. The impact of this launch has immediately triggered a major shock in Wall Street’s stock market. According to reports from the Techmeme aggregator platform, news of the emergence of this “Figma killer” was met with a negative response from the stock market. Shortly after the announcement of Claude Design, Figma’s shares reportedly plummeted by up to 6%, while shares of the giant Adobe (ADBE) were also dragged down. Many investors and industry observers were stunned by the speed of Anthropic’s disruptive power. After previously shaking up the software engineering industry through Claude Code, they are now disrupting the visual design realm without mercy. Interestingly, Anthropic is not charging a single penny for this “luxury” feature. Claude Design is automatically embedded as a built-in feature at no extra cost for all paid Claude customers, including the Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise packages. The company also emphasised that, as this product is still in the development phase, they will continue to adapt and refine its features based on user feedback.
