Anthony Leong Says National Economic Strength Is Also Supported by Regional Young Entrepreneurs
Jakarta — Anthony Leong, a candidate for the Chairperson of the Central Board of the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (HIPMI), emphasised that national economic strength is born in the regions and driven by entrepreneurs across Indonesia. He stated this at the launch of his book ‘Moving Forward Together for Indonesia Raya’, which showcases his capacity as a national‑level young leader in business while outlining a grand vision for Indonesia’s economic future.
‘The pulse of Indonesia’s progress is not determined solely in the centre but beats vigorously in every province from Aceh to Papua,’ Anthony said, as quoted in the foreword of his book, Friday, 22 May 2026.
In the foreword, Anthony describes his intellectual and organisational journey as he travels around Indonesia, visiting HIPMI’s Regional Boards (BPD) up to the Branch Boards (BPC) across the country. From that journey, he says he witnessed firsthand the fighting spirit of regional entrepreneurs who became the primary inspiration for the book. This reinforces his view that the regions are the new growth hubs of the national economy.
He even describes the presidents of HIPMI’s regional boards as ‘stalwart captains’ who keep the vessel of entrepreneurship steady, especially amid the storms of digital disruption.
Not only a writer, Anthony also expresses his appreciation for regional businesspeople, dedicating special attention to 38 HIPMI regional boards across Indonesia. According to him, the book is not merely a collection of professional journeys but also a ‘tribute’ to the nation’s economic drivers at the frontline.
‘This book is not merely a collection of ideas or a travelogue of my professional journey. More than that, this work is a tribute and a sign of my respect to the economic movers of our nation at the frontline,’ Anthony said.
He also emphasised that technocratic leadership and innovation are the key to safeguarding Indonesia’s economic sovereignty. The idea demonstrates Anthony’s capacity not only as a businessman but also as a national economic thinker who understands the challenges of digital transformation and the future of national entrepreneurship.
In this regard, Anthony also expressed deep appreciation for all HIPMI executives in the regions who have worked from the grassroots to uphold the organisation’s honour and advance the national economy.
