ANTARA's Planting Initiative in Kubu Raya Realises Environmental Sustainability
Pontianak (ANTARA) - Perum LKBN ANTARA, through its Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) programme, conducted a planting action in Mega Timur Village, Kubu Raya Regency, West Kalimantan, on Sunday (12/4).
The event was attended by the CEO of Perum LKBN ANTARA, Benny Siga Butarbutar, and Regent of Kubu Raya Sujiwo, along with local village government, surrounding communities, students, and environmental activists.
CEO of Perum LKBN ANTARA, Benny Siga Butarbutar, stated that the ANTARA Planting programme, a tangible action for the land of West Kalimantan, is part of corporate actions with social responsibility, and ANTARA continues to commit to implementing this policy sustainably to preserve the environment.
“ANTARA Planting is a concrete manifestation of ANTARA’s commitment, not only as a news agency but also as part of a state-owned enterprise (BUMN) with social and environmental responsibilities,” he said.
The activity also serves as a symbol of collaboration among parties such as ANTARA, the Kubu Raya Regency Government, the Mega Timur Village Government, communities, students, and communities to jointly protect the environment.
“In this activity, there are 500 seedlings available for planting. The seedlings consist of sirsak, trembesi, ketapang kencana, and tabebuya. These trees certainly have an impact on our ecological system and provide breath for the economy,” he said.
Meanwhile, Regent of Kubu Raya Sujiwo appreciated the ANTARA Planting programme, a tangible action for the land of West Kalimantan, held in Kubu Raya.
“Thank you, and I appreciate LKBN ANTARA for initiating this activity. Tree planting is an effective way to suppress greenhouse gas emissions. Trees are oxygen producers,” he said.
Sujiwo added that if this collaboration continues, the Kubu Raya Regency Government will provide a stock of tree seedlings, such as kuncup merah, mahogany, almond, and even other ornamental plants that will be distributed.
“At this time, I am also distributing productive plants, such as chillies whose fruits can be eaten, making it lush. Even though it’s small, it has water absorption and contributes O2,” said Sujiwo.
The planting location was at the yard of the Mega Timur Village Office and the side of the village road. Participants in the action could also take the plant seedlings to be planted in their home yards.
