Antam resumes gold production
JAKARTA: State-owned mining company PT Aneka Tambang (Antam) has resumed its gold production at its Pongkor mine in Bogor, West Java, which was closed on Sept. 6 due to an accident that took one of the employee's lives.
In its report to the Jakarta Stock Exchange (JSX) on Monday, Antam announced that it had started mining the gold again late on Thursday after completing the investigation into the accident and securing the site against a possible future disaster.
Antam has estimated its gold production could increase by 6.6 percent this year to about 4,000 kilograms following the full operation of its gold mine in Bogor, which was disrupted by fire early last year. -- JP
