ANTAM Represents Indonesia at the International Mine Rescue Competition 2026
PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (ANTAM), a member of MIND ID, is dispatching its representatives to the International Mine Rescue Competition 2026 for Indonesia, to be held in Zambia, Africa, from 25 April to 7 May 2026. This participation forms part of ANTAM’s commitment to strengthening competencies and occupational health and safety (OHS) standards in the mining sector, while contributing to promoting Indonesia’s name on the global stage.
ANTAM’s representatives, integrated into the Garuda Mine Rescue Team (GMRT), constitute a combined team from Indonesia’s mining company Emergency Response Teams under the Indonesian Mining and Energy Emergency Response Association (PERTAPINDO). The team consists of Yoga Prasetya (UBPE Pongkor), Fani Farizal (UBPP Logam Mulia), Laode Maliki (UBPN Kolaka), and Mohammad Asril Sarimuddin (HSSE Head Office), who has been appointed as Leader and Manager of the Garuda Mine Rescue Team (GMRT) as Indonesia’s delegation.
The International Mine Rescue Competition (IMRC) is a prestigious global event, often referred to as the Olympics of Mine Rescue. The competition tests mine rescue teams’ abilities in realistic emergency simulations. It focuses on evaluating skills, exchanging knowledge, and applying global mine safety standards.
IMRC 2026 will be attended by nine countries, including Poland, Indonesia, Canada, Australia, Colombia, China, Zambia, Côte d’Ivoire, and India, with competition categories in Underground Mine Rescue, First Aid, Fire Fighting, Bench Test, and High Angle Rope Rescue.
Prior to the international competition, the team underwent intensive training in Banyuwangi from 5 to 19 April 2026 as part of preparations to tackle various emergency handling simulations in mining environments.
ANTAM’s Corporate Secretary, Wisnu Danandi, stated that this participation reflects the company’s commitment to prioritising safety aspects in its operations.
“ANTAM’s involvement in this event is a tangible manifestation of the company’s commitment to implementing superior occupational safety standards and enhancing human resource capabilities in handling emergencies in the mining industry,” Wisnu said, quoted on Wednesday (22/4/2026).
Furthermore, Wisnu added that the event also serves as a platform for learning and exchanging experiences with rescue teams from other countries, with the hope of strengthening sustainable occupational safety practices within ANTAM’s environment.
ANTAM consistently positions occupational safety, health, and the environment as integral components of its operations. Efforts to enhance emergency response team capacities represent a strategic step in ensuring safe and responsible operational continuity.
“Through this participation, ANTAM hopes to make a positive contribution to elevating mining safety standards while bringing honour to Indonesia on the international stage,” he concluded.
