ANTAM CEO Directly Oversees Forest Fire Management in Mempawah

PT ANTAM (Persero) Tbk (ANTAM), a member of the MIND ID mining industry holding company, continues to strengthen its support in managing forest and land fires (karhutla) in the Mempawah region, West Kalimantan. ANTAM President Director Untung Budiharto was present on-site to inspect the management process and ensure the readiness of personnel and corporate support in the field.

The Emergency Response Group (ERG) from ANTAM, PT Borneo Alumina Indonesia (PT BAI), and the MIND ID Group ERG are actively conducting sweeps, spraying, wetting areas, and extinguishing fire hotspots to prevent further spread. This integrated response is being carried out alongside the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), the TNI, the National Police, the government, Fire Care Communities, and various other relevant parties.

ANTAM President Director Untung Budiharto stated that ANTAM’s involvement in managing the forest fires is part of the company’s responsibility to safeguard the community, the environment, and the areas surrounding its operational activities.

“Our current priority is to support all efforts so that fire hotspots can be controlled immediately and the impact on both the community and the environment can be minimised. ANTAM, together with MIND ID and all relevant parties, continues to coordinate and deploy the necessary resources to strengthen field operations,” said Untamente, as quoted from a written statement on Sunday (6/9/2026).

Untung added that ANTAM appreciates all personnel working in the field, including the support of the Emergency Response Group from the MIND ID Group, which includes members arriving from various regions across Indonesia.

“Handling such conditions requires collective effort. We appreciate the BNPB, TNI, Polri, local government, MINDID, the entire ERG team, and the community working hand-in-hand to manage this. ANTAM will continue to support this process until the situation is well-controlled,” continued Untung.

As part of the strengthened response, the MIND ID Group has consolidated 60 certified firefighters from various operational areas across Sumatra, Java, Sulawesi, and Papua to support the fire management in Mempawah.

Support is also being provided through various fire-fighting and safety equipment, including firefighting foam, personal protective equipment (PPE), turnout gear, fire hoses, as well as medical and N95 masks to help protect both personnel and the community from the effects of haze.

He emphasised that, based on field monitoring and coordination, the fire hotspots are confirmed not to originate from the operational activities of ANTAM or the MIND ID Group. Nevertheless, ANTAM is taking proactive steps in the management because community safety, environmental protection, and controlling the impact of forest fires are the company’s top priorities.

ANTAM continues to coordinate with MIND ID and all relevant stakeholders to conduct monitoring and support management until the situation is declared safe. This step is also part of the implementation of ANTAM’s ESG commitments, particularly regarding environmental protection, safety, and social contribution to the communities around its operational areas.
