Ant-dumping ruling hits RI

WASHINGTON (AF): The U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC)
issued a final anti-dumping ruling against steel plate imports
from France, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan and South Korea.

Acting on a complaint from the Commerce Department, the ITC
determined on Wednesday that "certain cut-to-length steel plate"
imported from the six nations were sold in the United States "at
less than fair value."

All the countries apart from Japan were also found guilty of
subsidizing their steel-plate exports in the ruling, which
enforces findings made by the Commerce Department in response to
complaints by U.S. steel firms.

The commission said it would recommend that U.S. Customs
Service impose anti-dumping duties on "certain cut-to-length
steel plate" imports from the six nations.

Earlier Wednesday, the Commerce Department announced final
punitive duties that could be slapped on cold-rolled steel
exports from Japan, Thailand, Argentina, Brazil, South Africa and
Russia.
