Police have confirmed that the injuries sustained by model Ansy Jan De Vries were not the result of a mugging, but a ruptured boil. Metro Jaya Police Public Relations Division head, Kombes Budi Hermanto, said this based on visum et repertum and medical examinations of the wounds. ‘This has been studied, including visum et repertum of the wounds. We reiterate: the wound is a ruptured boil. So not due to the slashing by a mugger,’ he told reporters on Friday (22/5).

On Thursday (22/5) Ansy was also questioned by investigators from the Cyber Directorate of Polda Metro Jaya. The clarification was conducted to probe his motive for claiming on social media that he was a mugging victim. ‘An invitation for clarification was issued by the Cyber Directorate to deepen the motive,’ he said.

Earlier, reports circulated that the model with initials Ansy Jan De Vries had been mugged in Kebon Jeruk, West Jakarta. The victim was said to have required medical treatment at RS Sumber Waras.

Budi said authorities immediately launched an inquiry after the information went viral on social media. The results confirmed that Ansy was not a mugging victim. ‘The Directorate of PPA and PPO, together with Satres PPA PPO Jakarta Barat and Kebun Jeruk Police, assisted by UPT P3A and psychology, including the Metro Jaya Police Medical Examiner’s Office, proactively visited Ms AWS (Ansy Jan De Vries) and conducted interrogation,’ he said at Polda Metro Jaya on Wednesday night (20/5).

‘We emphasise that the person concerned is not a victim of mugging or any other criminal act,’ he added. Police also coordinated with RS Sumber Waras to confirm the reports. The result: Ansy was never treated at that hospital. From the investigations, the narrative that Ansy Jan De Vries is a mugging victim circulating on social media is driven by mischief. ‘What is the motive? First, mischief; second, to glorify viral incidents about mugging. This has been investigated. Therefore we have concluded that the person is not a victim of a criminal act,’ he said.
