Jakarta – The Ansor Youth Movement has joined forces with a global building materials company to bolster the cadre economy. The collaboration is formalised by a memorandum of understanding between Badan Usaha Milik Ansor (BUMA) and PT Oriental Yuhong Indonesia. The partnership is expected to broaden the economic activities of the cadres while strengthening the organisation’s autonomy. Dwi Winarno, chairman of the Central Leadership of GP Ansor, said the signing followed a series of meetings between BUMA and PT Oriental Yuhong Indonesia. He noted that Yuhong is a major player in the global waterproofing industry; ‘PT Yuhong operates in waterproofing and related fields, its market size is the fourth largest in the world. So I think Ansor can share and collaborate with one of the world’s largest companies,’ he said at the handover in the GP Ansor Building, Central Jakarta, on Friday (6 March 2026), according to a press release.

Dwi emphasised that the trust of the global company must be rewarded with the commitment of the Ansor cadres. He noted that building the organisation’s economic strength requires a long process and consistency. He recalled that the idea of strengthening the economy within NU’s Nahdliyin has long existed since the founding of Nahdlatul Ulama through the Nahdlatut Tujjar economic movement. He said the spirit has been revived through various Ansor economic programmes, including through BUMA. ‘Ansor is spread across 484 regencies/cities and tens of thousands of villages in Indonesia, with millions of cadres. This is an enormous potential. In addition to safeguarding Islam, the unity of the NKRI, cadres should also contribute to economic independence.’

Dwi explained that although BUMA is not yet one year old, the enterprise body has already begun contributing financially to the central leadership. ‘Currently BUMA is able to contribute around Rp167 million per month to the central leadership. The target by 2029 is Rp250 million per month,’ he said.

Wakil Ketua Umum PP GP Ansor M Mabrur L Banuna said the collaboration with PT Oriental Yuhong Indonesia is a step to expand BUMA’s scale and empower cadres in the regions. The products covered by the MoU, such as paints and others, will be channelled through the Ansor network to regional branches to create economic activity for cadres. ‘The products we’ve MoUed, like paints and others, will be mobilised through PW, PC, and BUMA regions to provide economic activity for cadres,’ he said.

Mabrur stressed that the partnership’s aim is not solely to chase profits, but to strengthen the economic resilience of the Ansor cadres. ‘It’s not only about profit, but how this can support cadres’ economy, both individually and as an organisation.’

Li Zhiyong, Country Director of PT Oriental Yuhong Indonesia, said the company sees significant potential in the partnership with GP Ansor. The firm also values the network within the community. ‘We are honoured to have chosen Ansor to work with. We see much potential for growth together in the future,’ he said. Li Zhiyong also revealed plans to expand investment in Indonesia, including building an investment facility in Yogyakarta. He said the partnership has strategic value as the organisation has a broad network and social role in society. ‘Ansor is not only a large organisation; it also has social responsibility to the community. We share the same mission,’ he added.
