Anshoruddin to Serve as Imam for Eid al-Adha Prayer at Istiqlal Mosque, with UIN Makassar Rector as Khatib

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Ahmad Anshoruddin Ibrahim will serve as Imam for the 1447 AH Eid al-Adha prayer at Istiqlal Mosque in Central Jakarta on Wednesday, 27 May 2026.

‘The national Eid al-Adha prayer at Istiqlal Mosque will commence at 7:00 AM WIB,’ said Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar during a press conference at the mosque in Central Jakarta on Monday, 25 May 2026.

The Eid al-Adha prayer is open to the public, provided attendees adhere to order, comfort, and applicable health protocols.

The Eid al-Adha khatib will be UIN Alauddin Makassar Rector Prof. H. Hamdan Juhannis, MA., Ph.D, with the sermon theme ‘Strengthening the Spirit of Sacrifice, Caring for the Environment and Humanity’.

‘The event can be attended in person on the Upper Floor of Istiqlal Mosque or streamed online via the Istiqlal Mosque TV YouTube channel,’ Nasaruddin said.

The Minister confirmed that Istiqlal Mosque will not operate 24 hours on the night of Takbir for Eid al-Adha 1447 AH.

For those attending the Eid al-Adha prayer at the mosque, gates and entrances will open from 3:30 AM WIB.

Furthermore, Minister Nasaruddin stated that Istiqlal Mosque entrances are divided into two regulations for Eid al-Adha worship: first, for general worshippers on foot, entry via Al-Fattah Gate (opposite Jakarta Cathedral Church), As-Salam 1 and As-Salam 2 (opposite Juanda Bus Stop); second, parking areas for worshippers are provided as follows:
