Ansett adds more flights

JAKARTA (JP): Ansett Australia yesterday launched two additional services linking Jakarta and Sydney, with flights to Jakarta four times per week.

Ansett began last February flying to Jakarta twice per week, operating Boeing B-747-300 airplanes.

In addition to Ansett, there are currently four other carriers linking Indonesia and Australia: Garuda Indonesia, Merpati Nusantara Airlines, Sempati Air and Qantas.

The 60-year-old Ansett launched operations in Indonesia by providing service to Bali in 1993. The airline currently conducts 10 direct flights per week from Denpasar to Australia. (icn)
