Ansett adds Bali flights
SYDNEY (Reuters): Ansett Australia said yesterday its
international airline would add one more weekly return flight to
Denpasar in Indonesia to cope with a 30 percent surge in
Australian tourism to Bali.
"While the Asian downturn has initially affected outbound
traffic to some holiday markets, Ansett has experienced 30
percent passenger growth to Bali over the last year, the combined
result of a favorable exchange rate and the huge number of
affordable packages on offer," Ansett General Manager Craig
Wallace said in a statement.
The extra flight would be non-stop return between Sydney and
Denpasar every Saturday.
Last month Ansett International, which is 49 percent owned by
Ansett Australia and 51 percent owned by Australian institutional
investors, added a new weekly Brisbane to Denpasar service.
Earlier this year Ansett terminated non-stop services to Kuala
Lumpur and suspended services to Seoul.
