Ansaldo's Kalina Cycle

Ansaldo's Kalina Cycle

JAKARTA (JP): Ansaldo Energia, a giant manufacturer of power generation equipment from Italy, has introduced here the Kalina Cycle process, a new technology based on water ammonia mixture, in a further move to strengthen its position as the market leader in geothermal technology.

C. Del Corso, Ansaldo's chief director here, said his company has been playing a major role in the development of geothermal power in Indonesia and the Kalina Cycle technology would further entrench its market position in the country.

Del Corso said Ansaldo had developed the Kalina Cycle technology in association with Exergy of the United States.

Ansaldo, which has been cooperating with state-owned PT PAL in Surabaya to manufacture large-capacity geothermal power turbines, was the main contractor and manufacturer for the geothermal power stations at Mt. Salak in West Java, he added. (vin)
