Another Victim Found Dead in Rubble of Elite Housing Complex in Medan

A joint SAR team has recovered another victim from the rubble following an explosion at an elite housing complex in Grand Polonia, Medan. The victim was found dead. “Praise God, today at 15:45 WIB the joint team found another victim,” said Medan Police Chief Commissioner Jean Calvijn on Tuesday (21/7/2026). However, Calvijn could not yet confirm whether the recovered individual was the household’s babysitter or domestic worker. The body has been taken to hospital for identification. “I cannot yet determine whether this second victim is the domestic worker or the babysitter,” he explained. The body was discovered at around 15:30 WIB on the second floor of the house and was evacuated using heavy equipment from the fire department. Seven people were reported to be victims of the explosion at the luxury home in Grand Polonia Medan. The Head of the Medan Class A Search and Rescue Office, Hery Marantika, detailed that the survivors include a two-year-old girl with the initial J, a man named Hasan, and a driver and courier whose names are not yet known.
