Another TNI Soldier Falls in Attack in Lebanon
TNI soldier Head Corporal (Praka) Rico Pramudia, 31 years old, who was injured in an Israeli attack in Lebanon at the end of March, has been declared fallen. Rico was a member of the TNI integrated into the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) peacekeeping troops.
Rico’s death was announced by UNIFIL via X on Friday, 24 April 2026. “UNIFIL regrets the passing of Praka Rico Pramudia today, who was severely injured following a projectile explosion at the base where he was stationed in Adchit Al Qusayr on 29 March,” stated UNIFIL on Friday.
UNIFIL revealed that Praka Rico passed away after receiving treatment at a hospital in Beirut due to the wounds he sustained. UNIFIL also extended condolences to Indonesia and his family.
These peacekeeping troops, under the United Nations mandate, also demanded that all parties uphold the obligations of every country based on international law. UNIFIL described attacks on UN troops as war crimes.
“Intentional attacks on peacekeepers constitute a grave violation of international humanitarian law and Security Council Resolution 1701, and can be categorised as war crimes,” it stated.
Praka Rico Pramudia was one of three personnel injured in the Israeli attack on the UNIFIL headquarters near Adchit Al Qusayr in southern Lebanon on Sunday, 29 March 2026. The other two injured personnel were Praka Bayu Prakoso and Praka Arif Kurniawan. All three were part of the Mechanised Battalion Task Force in the Garuda XXIII-S Contingent on the UNIFIL mission.
In addition to the three injured victims, the incident also resulted in the death of one TNI member named Farizal Rhomadhon. In a separate incident, Zulmi Aditya Iskandar and M. Nur Ichwan, two Indonesian UNIFIL members, also fell due to an improvised explosive device targeting a convoy on 30 March 2026. The three fatalities had been repatriated to the homeland on 5 April 2026.
Furthermore, Praka Rico’s death increases the number of fallen peacekeeping personnel to six since the war between Israel and Hezbollah began on 2 March in Lebanon. In addition to the four TNI members, two French soldiers also died in an ambush on 18 April.
Through social media, the Ministry of Defence expressed condolences over Praka Rico’s passing. The Ministry stated that Praka died after undergoing treatment for injuries sustained during his assignment. “The falling of Praka Rico Pramudia in the execution of the world peacekeeping mission with UNIFIL in southern Lebanon is a profound sorrow,” wrote the @Kemhan Instagram account on Friday, 24 April 2026.
