Another Republika Journalist and Eight Indonesian Citizens Lose Contact with Freedom Flotilla

TEL AVIV – In addition to Republika journalist Bambang Noroyono, who previously sent an SOS video indicating his arrest by Israeli forces, the status of other activists remains unknown. Republika journalist Thoudy Badai, who is travelling aboard the Ozgurluk ship, has been out of contact since midday WIB.

The flotilla committee reported that interception protocols were activated by the Ozgurluk ship on Monday morning local time, following the movement of vessels deemed suspicious around the fleet. In a statement to the families and relatives of the participants, the committee noted that the situation is being closely monitored and further information will be provided once official confirmation is received.

“Ship activity has occurred and interception protocols have been activated. We will provide updates as soon as information is confirmed,” the committee stated. Following this announcement, Thoudy could no longer be reached. His ship was last detected in Cypriot waters, approximately 200 nautical miles from Gaza.

Thoudy Badai is travelling alongside Tempo journalists Andre Prasetyo Nugroho and Rahendia Herubowo, who serve as contributors for iNewsTV, Berita1, and CNN. The Global Peace Convoy Indonesia (GPCI) has delegated nine volunteers and journalists to participate in the ongoing Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) 2026 mission.

Among the participants are Herman Budianto Sudarsono and Ronggo Wirasanu from Dompet Dhuafa, travelling on the Beit Hanun/Zefiro ship. Bambang Noroyono is aboard the Bora Alize, being the sole Indonesian national on that vessel. Additionally, Andi Angga Prasadewa from Rumah Zakat is on the Josef ship, while Hendro Prasetyo and Asad Aras Muhammad are aboard the Kasr-1. These nine Indonesian participants are joining approximately 500 humanitarian volunteers and activists from 30 countries in an attempt to break the blockade of Gaza, Palestine.
