Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Sad news has enveloped the Indonesian military contingent following the death of a soldier serving with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL). The soldier, Private Rico Pramudia, aged 31, succumbed to injuries from an Israeli attack in Lebanon.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres conveyed his deep condolences over the passing of Private Rico Pramudia. He urged Israel to halt its attacks.

The statement of condolences was issued via the social media platform X on 25 April 2026. Antonio expressed sadness over the death of the Indonesian peacekeeper. He noted that the TNI member had died from wounds he could not survive.

“I am saddened to learn that another Indonesian peacekeeper with UNIFIL has died from his injuries following an incident in March, when an artillery round fired from an Israeli Defense Forces tank hit a @UNIFIL position in southern Lebanon, according to UNIFIL’s initial findings,” Guterres stated, quoted on Sunday (26/4/2026).

In addition, Guterres extended his deepest sympathies to the victim’s family. He also prayed for the recovery of other peacekeepers injured in the incident.

“I extend my deepest condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the fallen peacekeeper, and I wish a swift and full recovery to the others who were injured,” he said.

To date, six UNIFIL personnel in Lebanon have been killed. He urged Israel to immediately stop attacks on Lebanon.

“Six peacekeepers serving with UNIFIL have now been killed and several others seriously injured following recent incidents amid the hostilities between Hezbollah and the Israeli Defense Forces,” he stated. “These attacks must stop,” he concluded.
