Another hotel in Myanmar
BANGKOK (AFP): Myanmar's military authorities Tuesday signed an agreement in Rangoon with a private Singaporean hotel firm to build and operate a hotel in the Myanmarese capital's city center, state-run Radio Yangon reported.
The agreement to set up "the Yangon Hotel" was signed by Myanmar's Trade Ministry and Singapore-based Yangon Investment Private Limited, the radio said in a broadcast monitored here.
The signing ceremony was presided over by Myanmarese Trade Minister Tun Kyi and Tourism Minister Kyaw Ba, the report added. Singapore is one of the major hotel investors in Myanmar and a member of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, which has rejected the western boycott of Myanmar's military regime and said the best way to deal with Yangon was through a policy of "constructive engagement."
