Another daycare violence case exposed, KPPPA: Indications of many similar cases
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection has stated that the exposure of a child abuse case at Baby Preneur daycare in Banda Aceh, Aceh province, indicates suspicions of many similar cases in daycares that have yet to be uncovered. “This child abuse case at the daycare is the second incident in a very short time, following a similar case in Yogyakarta city, so it is possible that such cases occur frequently but remain undetected,” said Deputy for Special Child Protection at KemenPPPA, Titi Eko Rahayu, in Jakarta on Thursday. This is because the child abuse case at the daycare in Aceh was uncovered shortly after the similar case at the daycare in DI Yogyakarta came to light. Suspicions of child assault at Daycare Baby Preneur began to be known after the circulation of CCTV recordings accessible to parents, allowing quick detection of incidents involving the children. The suspects acted as caregivers. “KemenPPPA appreciates the swift response from Banda Aceh Police Resort, which has conducted an in-depth investigation by securing the perpetrators, securing the CCTV footage, and taking statements from witnesses such as the victims’ parents and foundation officials,” said Titi Eko Rahayu. For their actions, the perpetrators are charged under Article 77B in conjunction with Article 76B in conjunction with Article 80 Paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 76C of Law Number 35 of 2014 on Child Protection and/or Article 466 Paragraph (1) of Law Number 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code, with a penalty of five years’ imprisonment and a fine of Rp72 million. Previously, a video recording of suspected child assault at Daycare Baby Preneur in Banda Aceh went viral on social media, capturing public attention and leading to police handling of the case.
