Another child swept away by waves in the waters of Ampenan, Mataram City, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), was found dead this morning. The victim, Anindita Mantika Muslim (9), was discovered lifeless after a two-day search.

‘After intensive searching for almost two days, the victim was finally located,’ said Ampenan Police Chief AKP Muhammad Ryanto on Sunday (31/5/2026).

Ryanto stated that Anindita’s body was first found by locals in the Sombrok Beach area, Pondok Perasi Village, Ampenan, Mataram. After evacuation, the child’s remains were immediately taken to her family home in Ampenan.

‘The body has been transported to the mourning home with the Mataram City Basarnas team,’ Ryanto added.

Previously, Anindita was reported swept away while playing near Karang Buyuk Beach in Ampenan on Friday (29/5), when large waves suddenly surged and dragged her out to sea.

Anindita was not the only child reported missing in Ampenan’s waters. On the same day, a 13-year-old boy named Pietro Alesandro Seda was also reported missing at Skip Beach, Ampenan.

Pietro was initially swimming at the beach with eight friends, but large waves suddenly struck and swept them out to sea. All of Pietro’s friends managed to reach the shore safely, while Pietro was later found deceased at Malbau Beach, Karang Buyuk, South Ampenan, on Saturday (30/5).
