Another Bank Collapses, This Time in Central Java

The Financial Services Authority (OJK) has revoked the business licence of PT BPR Ceper Permata Artha, a rural bank located on Jalan Raya Klaten-Solo, Klaten Regency, Central Java. The revocation, enacted through OJK Board of Commissioners Decree Number KEPR-111/D.03/2026 dated 25 June 2026, follows a period of intensive supervision.

On 18 June 2025, the OJK placed PT BPR Ceper Permata Artha under ‘Bank in Recovery’ status because its Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR) had fallen below 12 percent and its overall health level was rated as unsound. Despite being given time to address its capital shortfall, the bank’s management and shareholders failed to restore its financial health.

Consequently, on 12 June 2026, the OJK escalated its status to ‘Bank in Resolution’ (BDR). The Indonesia Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS) subsequently decided against rescuing the bank and requested the OJK to revoke its operating licence. With the licence now cancelled, the LPS will execute its guarantee function and manage the liquidation process in accordance with prevailing laws. The OJK has urged all customers of PT BPR Ceper Permata Artha to remain calm, emphasising that public deposits in rural banks are insured by the LPS under the applicable regulations.
