Another Accident on the 'Skull Route'

A traffic accident involving a Mitsubishi truck and a Daihatsu Luxio occurred on the Denpasar-Gilimanuk road, precisely at the bend near Segara Rupek Temple, Gilimanuk Village, Melaya District, Jembrana Regency. The incident, which took place on the ‘skull route’ on Monday morning (7/9/2026), left one person injured.

The accident began when the Mitsubishi truck with registration plate P 8152 EE, driven by a man with the initials AJ (47), was travelling from Gilimanuk towards Denpasar at around 07.50 WITA. While passing the location of the incident at Km 120-121, the truck driver recklessly overtook the articulated lorry in front of him.

“The Mitsubishi truck overtook a Hino articulated lorry on a winding road with continuous markings. At the same time, a Daihatsu Luxio with registration DK 1638 AB, driven by a man with the initials IMK (50), was approaching from the opposite direction,” said the Head of the Traffic Unit of the Jembrana Police, AKP I Wayan Sugianta, when confirmed by detikBali on Monday.

Rainy conditions and a slippery road surface made the collision unavoidable, even though both drivers attempted to brake. The distance had become too close, causing the front sections of the two vehicles to smash into each other.

As a result of the incident, the Luxio driver suffered lacerations to his head and left knee and required medical treatment. Meanwhile, the truck driver, who is from Situbondo, was confirmed to have escaped without injury.

“Due to the hard impact, the front of both the Luxio and the Mitsubishi truck was badly damaged. Total material losses from the incident are estimated to reach Rp 25 million. This traffic accident case is now being handled by the Traffic Unit of the Jembrana Police,” explained Sugianta.
