Jakarta — The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) auctioned two mobile phones seized from corruption cases that sold at a price hundreds of times higher than their reserve value.

The two red and black handsets had a reserve price of Rp73,000 but sold for Rp59 million through an auction held on Wednesday, 11 March 2026.

Mungki Hadipratikto, Director of Asset Tracking, Evidence Management, and Execution (Labuksi) at the KPK, stated that the extremely low reserve price was one of the key attractions for auction participants.

“What makes people interested in buying the Oppo mobile phones is naturally the price. Because it is quite cheap for two units,” said Mungki when confirmed on Monday, 16 March 2026.

“There is indeed an anomaly regarding the high value achieved by the winning bidder,” said Mungki.

Mungki stated that the winner of the auction for the two phones valued at tens of millions of rupiah has not yet settled payment.

He explained that the settlement deadline is five working days after the announcement of the auction winner, which would be 18 March 2026. However, coinciding with a national holiday, the deadline was extended until 25 March 2026.

He emphasised that if the winning bidder fails to settle their obligation, they will be deemed in breach of contract.

“If not settled, the winning bidder will be considered in breach of contract, resulting in forfeiture of the deposit already submitted to the state treasury. We will then re-auction the item at the next auction opportunity,” said Mungki.

Mungki explained that similar phenomena have occurred previously, with the winning bidder in such cases failing to settle their obligations and the auction being declared void.
