Annual Financial Street Forum Officially Opens
Beijing (ANTARA/PRNewswire) — A news article from China Daily.
The 2026 Annual Conference of the Financial Street Forum officially opened in Beijing on Monday, bringing together more than 400 prominent figures from around the world.
This year’s event is themed “Building an Open, Collaborative and Inclusive Ecosystem for Global Financial Development”.
At a press conference ahead of the event, Zeng Linfeng, executive secretary-general of the organising committee and acting head of Beijing’s Xicheng District, said the theme had been chosen amid global changes not seen in a century. These changes pose challenges for the world economy and the global financial system.
“The world must urgently build understanding through openness, address challenges through cooperation, and seek common ground while respecting differences,” Zeng said.
He added: “This year’s event promotes efforts to align financial development with security, unlock growth opportunities through openness, strengthen the resilience of the system through cooperation, and create shared benefits through an inclusive approach.”
Over four days, the event will feature a main forum, several parallel forums and three conferences focusing on financial technology (fintech), insurance and investment.
The main sessions will include opening and closing ceremonies, as well as five thematic events hosted respectively by the People’s Bank of China, the National Financial Regulatory Administration, the China Securities Regulatory Commission, Xinhua News Agency and the State Administration of Foreign Exchange (SAFE).
Senior executives from leading global financial companies, including Standard Chartered and DWS Group, are scheduled to attend a SAFE event on Thursday. They will discuss cross-border financial development and cooperation amid changes in the global landscape.
The forum’s agenda also includes long-term investment opportunities in China’s capital markets as two-way opening-up advances, as well as efforts to maintain a healthy relationship between financial markets and the real economy.
The parallel forums will also bring together government officials from China and abroad, experts, academics and representatives of international financial institutions. Addressing two key themes—high-level opening-up in the financial sector and financial support for high-quality economic development—the event aims to strengthen international financial cooperation and foster a more open, inclusive and resilient financial environment that supports the real economy.
