Annual EU-ASEAN meeting in doubt
BANGKOK (AFP): A meeting between officials of the European Union (EU) and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations here next week could be canceled because of a dispute over Myanmar, sources said yesterday.
Unresolved differences on Yangon's participation have cast doubt over the annual meeting of senior officials to discuss cooperation, due to be held in Bangkok between Nov. 17 and Nov. 19, a European source told AFP.
"A decision will probably be taken over the next couple of days in Brussels. It is still uncertain whether the meeting will go ahead or not," said the source.
Officials from the EU and its member states were due to discuss the matter in Brussels yesterday.
