Announcement on Certainty of Asset Forfeiture Bill from Senayan

House of Representatives Commission III has revealed the certainty regarding the passage of the Asset Forfeiture Bill. The bill is targeted for completion by the end of the year.

As summarised by detikcom on Wednesday (26/8/2026), this was conveyed by the Chairman of House Commission III, Habiburokhman. He said the Asset Forfeiture Bill is targeted to be passed no later than the DPR plenary session at the end of the year.

“Commission III continues to accelerate the formation of the Asset Forfeiture Bill and it is confirmed to be passed no later than at the DPR RI Plenary Session in December 2026,” said Habiburokhman.

Habiburokhman calculated the effective sitting time of the DPR RI. He said that after deducting the recess period, the DPR RI only has approximately eight weeks to complete the Asset Forfeiture Bill.

“Within those eight weeks of the sitting period, Commission III will hold public hearing meetings to absorb aspirations, harmonisation, working meetings with the government, deliberation of the problem inventory list, first-level approval, and finally second-level approval at the plenary session in December 2026,” he explained.

For the absorption of aspirations, Commission III has reportedly held 35 Public Hearing Meetings as well as conducted three working visits to the regions. In addition, they have received written input from dozens of community elements.

“Because the remaining time is not too long, if there are still members of the public who wish to express their opinions, this can be done by submitting a written concept,” he said.

For Habiburokhman, the process of absorbing aspirations is approaching its maximum because various opinions from the public have been well mapped.

He added that the majority of the public supports the formation of the Asset Forfeiture Bill. The regulation is considered capable of preventing potential abuse of authority if drafted carefully.

“Most of the public strongly supports the formation of the Asset Forfeiture Bill. Most of the public also supports that this bill be drafted carefully so as to eliminate the potential for corruption in the fight against corruption in the form of abuse of power by law enforcement officials,” he said.
