Announcement: Jakarta Car-Free Day Cancelled on 31 May 2026 for Waisak Holiday
Residents of the capital who regularly exercise on weekends should note the latest traffic updates from DKI Jakarta’s Transportation Agency (Dishub). It has been confirmed that Jakarta’s Car-Free Day (CFD) will not take place on 31 May 2026 due to the Waisak holiday. The cancellation of the Car-Free Day (CFD) activity has been officially announced to commemorate Waisak 2570. Residents are advised to adjust their exercise schedules and locations for that weekend.
Basis for CFD Cancellation
The announcement regarding the cancellation of CFD was made directly via the official Instagram account of DKI Jakarta Provincial Transportation Agency (@dishubdkijakarta). The decision to suspend the vehicle-free zone follows clear legal regulations.

The activity suspension is due to the celebration of Waisak 2570, which falls on Sunday, 31 May 2026.
The policy is based on Article 5(1) of DKI Jakarta Provincial Regulation No. 12 of 2016 on the Implementation of Car-Free Day (CFD) in Jakarta.
Road User Safety Advisory
With the cancellation of CFD, road sections normally closed for exercise will resume normal operations and be accessible to motor vehicles. In this regard, DKI Jakarta’s Transportation Agency has issued specific advisories.
All road users are urged to comply with existing traffic regulations, and drivers are advised to prioritise safety when travelling on the roads.
Waisak 2026 Holiday Schedule
Waisak 2026 falls on a weekend, with only one day off and no additional leave days. The Idul Adha holiday precedes it, followed by Pancasila Day, creating a long weekend.
