Anindya Bakrie Targets 80% Local Content for VKTR Electric Buses and Trucks by 2028
Anindya Bakrie, CEO of PT Bakrie & Brothers Tbk (BNBR), has reaffirmed the company’s commitment to continuously enhancing the local content level (TKDN) in the production of electric trucks and buses at VKTR, as part of the Bakrie Group. He made this statement at the inauguration of the electric commercial vehicle assembly plant owned by PT VKTR Teknologi Mobilitas Tbk (VKTR) in Magelang, Central Java, by President Prabowo Subianto. Anindya explained that VKTR has already met the Ministry of Industry’s requirements to achieve 40% TKDN certification. Therefore, by 2028, Anindya assured that VKTR could reach up to 60% TKDN in 2026 and 80% in 2028. “We also believe that with self-reliant strength, we can increase the TKDN that has received 40% certification from the Ministry of Industry, towards 60% this year and 80% in 2028,” said Anindya, quoted from the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube on Thursday, 9 April 2026. “If we look at it, Mr President, from the history of other countries, in Japan they advanced first with (producing) buses and trucks before cars,” he added. To achieve this TKDN enhancement goal, Anindya admitted he will continue to forge partnerships with several local vehicle component producers. “And here, not only us from VKTR, but also our partners such as Mr Widodo’s karoseri from Trisakti, from Laksana, Adiputro, and also Tentrem Sejahtera,” said Anindya. “Then for tyres from Gajah Tunggal, for batteries from Auto Inovasi Sukses, then for telematics from Erika Solusi Integrasi, and AC from Sejuk Sejahtera Santosa,” he stated.
