Jakarta – Anindya N. Bakrie, Chief Executive and Managing Director of PT Bakrie & Brothers Tbk (BNBR), has stated that the company is exploring opportunities for expansion into the data centre sector as part of its future business development strategy.

The data centre venture is closely linked to BNBR’s subsidiary PT Multi Kontrol Nusantara (MKN), which specialises in systems integration, network services, fibre optic infrastructure, and strategic information technology (IT) solutions.

“We have a company called MKN, which is an established company that has developed in the IT sector. MKN recognises that IT infrastructure, which previously focused on telecommunications poles or fibre optic networks, has now evolved,” Bakrie said following the company’s Annual General Meeting of Shareholders held at Epicentrum in Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Friday, 27 February 2026.

Bakrie explained that while IT infrastructure traditionally centred on telecommunications infrastructure or fibre optic networks, the current landscape has shifted towards more advanced technological infrastructure, particularly data centres.

“We’re now talking about data centres rather than telecommunications poles or fibre optics. So, together with other members of our group, MKN is also looking at data centres,” Bakrie added.

He noted that the company’s exploration of data centre sector expansion is currently in the initial phase of identifying strategically advantageous locations, particularly within Jakarta. Several key factors will determine the viability of data centre development, especially the availability of land and adequate electricity supply.

“The most important aspects for a data centre are, first, land, and second, electricity supply. One of our group’s strengths is power generation. However, we will only proceed with this if we can secure a strategic partner who understands the data centre business,” Bakrie said.

Regarding financial performance, PT Bakrie & Brothers Tbk reported net revenue of Rp 3.74 trillion throughout 2025. Although revenue declined 3.28 per cent year-on-year, the company achieved a 49.6 per cent year-on-year increase in net profit, reaching Rp 502.74 billion in 2025, compared with Rp 336.04 billion in 2024.
