JAKARTA: PT Ford Motor Indonesia (FMI) president director Will Angove has been appointed as the new managing director of Mazda ASEAN Ltd. -- a new organization under the Mazda Motor Company to oversee Mazda's expansion in the rapidly growing Southeast Asian market, the company said in a statement.

Angove will officially take the new seat on July 1 at his new office in Bangkok. Once he assumes power, his organization will be responsible to develop and support local sales operations and growing awareness of Mazda brands.

During his five-year tenure with FMI, Angove managed to relaunch Ford brand thanks to Ranger trucks. Under his leadership, FMI recorded increasing sales from 1,600 in 2002, 3,794 in 2003 and 6,119 last year.
