The Jakarta Capital City Government Disaster Management Agency (BPBD DKI Jakarta) announced the elevation of the Angke Hulu monitoring post to Danger or Alert 1 as heavy rain swept across Jakarta from Saturday night into Sunday morning.

According to the X social media account of BPBD DKI Jakarta @BPBDJakarta, the water level at the Angke Hulu monitoring post at 01:00 WIB stood at 300 cm with the status of Alert or Alert 2. Subsequently, at 02:00 WIB, the water level rose to 340 cm, with the status Danger or Alert 1. Several areas of Jakarta along the river were on alert for possible flooding.

“Anticipation is for approximately 3 hours ahead; water is expected to reach the Pintu Air Cengkareng Drain. The areas along the river that will be affected include Kembangan Selatan, Duri Kosambi, Rawa Buaya, Kembangan Utara, Kedaung Kaliangke, Cengkareng Timur, Kapuk, Kapuk Muara, and Kamal Muara,” BPBD wrote on its official X account @BPBDJakarta.

Earlier on Sunday dawn, the Angke Hulu monitoring post was at Alert 1 with rain continuing.

BPBD DKI Jakarta has disseminated information via social media, Disaster Early Warning Systems, and notices to camat and lurah about the rise in status of the Angke Hulu monitoring post.

In an emergency, the public is advised to contact the Jakarta Siaga call centre at number 112.

Other floodgate locations, namely Pasar Ikan, Pintu Air Karet, and Pos Sunter Hulu, were reported to be at Alert or Alert 2. Manggarai Banjir Kanal Barat (BKB) was reported to be at Watch/Alert 3.

Other floodgate locations include Katulampa, Depok, Krukut Hulu, Pesanggrahan, Waduk Pluit, Cipinang Hulu, and Pulo Gadung were reported to be at normal or Alert 4.
