Angkasa Pura to settle tax arrears

TANGERANG: The operator of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, PT Angkasa Pura (AP) II, has promised to settle arrears in advertisement taxes since 2002, worth Rp 2 billion (US$220,000) to Tangerang municipality.

In a meeting with Mayor Wahidin Halim early this week, the company's commercial and business development director Tulus Pranowo said AP was fully aware of its rights and obligations.

"We will facilitate the settlement of the tax arrears at the airport with the administration," he said.

He said the company realized that bylaw No. 8/1999 on ad tax stipulated that all kinds of advertisements at the airport must pay taxes to the administration.

"Therefore, we will hold talks with several related agencies and recalculate the amount of arrears in ad tax by advertisement owners in the near future," he said.

Mayor Wahidin said AP should become a facilitator when the administration collects various revenues from the ad tax sector at the airport, which is located in the municipality's jurisdiction.

"I hope the arrears can be settled soon and that AP does not hamper the administration from collecting ad taxes at the airport," he said. -- JP
