Angie loses to Kirilenko at Indian Open

Angelique "Angie" Widjaja failed to get past Maria Kirilenko in the third round of the Indian Open tennis tournament in Hyderabad, losing to the Russian 6-1, 6-2 on Thursday.

Though Angie won only three games, her coach Deddy Tedjamukti said that she played well, only stumbling on critical points.

"Angie played a good game. Every game was closely fought. But Angie repeatedly flopped on deuces," Deddy said in a press release.

Angie lost to Kirilenko in the second round of the same tournament last year.

"I played OK. I lost because the opponent played very well," said Angie, who beat Barbara Schwart and Maria Elena Camerin in the previous two rounds. -- JP
