Anggrek Train Driver Named Suspect, Transport Minister Leaves Legal Process to Police
The Minister of Transportation, Dudy Purwagandhi, has spoken out regarding the driver of the Anggrek train (formerly KA Argo Bromo Anggrek) who was named a suspect after colliding with a Commuter Line (KRL) train at Bekasi Timur Station. Dudy has left the legal process to the police.
“I believe this is the domain of the police or law enforcement agencies. Therefore, we will certainly always follow or obey the ongoing legal process. For other matters, we leave it entirely to the police authorities,” said Dudyl at the parliamentary complex, Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday (30/09/2026).
Dudy expressed confidence that the police process will be professional. He emphasised that the ministry will follow whatever determination is made by the police.
“Whatever has been determined by the police, we will follow and implement,” he stated.
Previously, the police explained the reasons for naming the Anggrek train driver as a suspect. Investigators concluded that the accident was related to the braking actions performed by the driver, identified by the initials AN (37).
“Based on the results of the data and investigative evidence we have conducted, and as colleagues have seen from the data logger results, it was found that the emergency brake action performed by the driver of the Argo Bromo Anggrek train at 21:51 WIB occurred when the train was 263 metres away from the point of impact with KRL 5568,” said the Deputy Director of Criminal Investigation, Polda Metro Jaya, AKBP Dewa Anom Danunjaya, on Tuesday (29/09).
“Investigators concluded that the emergency brake action should have been performed at a greater distance than the action taken during the first braking at the time of the accident,” he continued.
He stated that investigators had conducted examinations and analyses of the evidence, noting that they had also consulted with experts.
“So, while the driver did perform the action, the distance at which it was performed should have been much further than the 263-metre location,” he added.
