Aneka Tambang halts commissioning
JAKARTA: PT Aneka Tambang, an Indonesian gold and nickel miner
65 percent-owned by the Indonesian government, said it halted
commissioning of its FeNi II ferronickel smelter.
"Abnormal metal levels in the furnace and higher than normal
temperatures at the bottom of the furnace indicated refractory
loss and possible damage to bricks at the bottom of the electric
furnace," the Jakarta-based company said in a statement to the
Australian Stock Exchange.
Aneka Tambang said it will revise its 2005 ferronickel
production target "as early as possible."-- Bloomberg
