Android-based Googlebook to be introduced on 5 October 2026

Google will introduce its Android-based laptop line, Googlebook, through an event titled ‘Opening Night’ in New York, United States, on 5 October 2026.

According to a report from Engadget on Tuesday (15/9) local time, Google will showcase the Googlebook devices through various interactive sessions while also introducing its first laptop designed to run Gemini Intelligence artificial intelligence (AI) features.

The pre-order period for Googlebook will open before the ‘Opening Night’ event, specifically on 21 September 2026. The devices are expected to be shipped to customers shortly after the event, allowing Google to market the laptops ahead of the year-end shopping season.

Several of Google’s partners, namely Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, and Lenovo, will produce the Googlebook devices. The laptops will also feature a distinctive ‘glowbar’ on the lid.

Regarding AI features, the Googlebook will be equipped with Magic Pointer. This feature can provide action suggestions based on the object pointed to by the cursor on the screen. Magic Pointer does not remain active at all times; users must move the cursor first to activate it.

Googlebook will also bring features from Android 17, which will allow users to create custom widgets according to their specific needs.
