Andrie Yunus's Legal Team Files Pre-Trial Motion, Challenges Case Transfer to TNI's Military Police

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com — The legal team for the victim of an acid attack, Andrie Yunus, has filed a pre-trial application at the South Jakarta District Court on Wednesday (29/4/2026).

This step is taken to challenge the transfer of the case to the military court and to request that the investigation be continued by the police.

The legal representatives registered the pre-trial application, bringing along a number of administrative documents.

“There are no further actions in the framework of the investigation carried out by the Metro Jaya Regional Police. Therefore, we assume they have covertly stopped the investigation,” said one of the lawyers, Alif Fauzi Nurwidiastomo, on Wednesday.

Another lawyer, Wildanu Syahril Guntur, stated that they are requesting the investigation to be resumed through this pre-trial lawsuit.

“What we hope for is the resumption of the investigation process regarding the terror against our colleague Andrie Yunus with the acid attack,” said Guntur.

According to Guntur, the application aligns with Andrie’s wish that his case not be resolved in the military court.

Moreover, the results of the legal team’s independent investigation have uncovered allegations of civilian actors’ involvement in the incident, so they believe the case is more appropriately tried in a general court.

In this pre-trial hearing, the legal team also wants to test the stance of the Metro Jaya Police investigators, who are said to have transferred the case without informing them.

Another lawyer, M. Nabil Hafizhurrahman, assessed that the case, which was pursued through a model A report, should still be ongoing.

The legal team also mentioned that their investigation results have found at least 16 people suspected of being involved in the acid attack.

Previously, the Director of General Criminal Investigation at the Metro Jaya Regional Police, Senior Commissioner Iman Imanuddin, stated the possibility that the number of perpetrators is more than four people who are currently undergoing trial in the military court.

The acid attack incident against Andrie occurred on Thursday (12/3/2026) around 23:37 WIB on Jalan Salemba I–Talang, Senen, Central Jakarta. At that time, Andrie was riding a motorcycle alone.
