JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Deputy Coordinator of KontraS, Andrie Yunus, is beginning to show improvement after undergoing intensive treatment for about a month at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM).

Coordinator of KontraS’s Working Body, Dimas Bagus Arya, stated that Andrie can now resume limited activities, such as walking, eating independently, and using the toilet.

However, he still requires further treatment, including physiotherapy and the possibility of major surgery.

“Alhamdulillah, his condition has gradually improved. This means Andrie, as a person, can now resume normal activities,” said Dimas when met in Pancoran, South Jakarta, on Friday (24/4/2026).

Nevertheless, the burns on Andrie’s body remain in a moist condition, making general visits impossible for now. Visits are currently restricted to family and the KontraS team.

Additionally, the stitches on Andrie’s right hand prevent him from moving freely.

“So the medical team is still concerned about infection, which is why visits are very limited,” Dimas explained.

To date, Andrie is said to strongly reject his case being brought to a military court.

This stance is based on KontraS’s records regarding several military judicial processes deemed not fully compliant with principles of justice.

Coordinator of KontraS’s Working Body, Dimas Bagus Arya, explained that the incident occurred around 23:37 WIB when Andrie was riding his motorbike on Jalan Salemba I-Talang, Senen, Central Jakarta.

While passing the location, two perpetrators riding a motorbike believed to be a Honda Beat from 2016–2021 approached the victim from the opposite direction on Jalan Talang (Talang Bridge).

The first perpetrator, acting as the driver, was wearing a white-blue combination T-shirt, dark trousers believed to be jeans material, and a black helmet.

Meanwhile, the second perpetrator, who was a pillion passenger, was wearing a face covering or mask resembling a black buff, a dark blue T-shirt, and long blue trousers folded short, believed to be jeans material.

One of the perpetrators then splashed a strong acid liquid towards Andrie, hitting parts of his body.
