Andrie Yunus's Acid-Splashed Eye Covered with Membrane Tissue
Jakarta, Kompas.com - The National Central General Hospital Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo (RSCM) has revealed the latest condition of the eye of KontraS Deputy Coordinator Andrie Yunus, which was injured after being splashed with acid.
RSCM’s Legal and Public Relations Manager, Yoga Nara, stated that Andrie Yunus’s eye condition is still in the advanced treatment phase by the medical team.
“The eyeball is covered using membrane tissue (tenon and conjunctiva), and temporary stitching is performed on the eyelid,” Yoga said in a written statement on Wednesday (8/4/2026).
Ultrasonography (USG) examination results show that the back wall of Andrie Yunus’s eyeball remains intact.
The eye closure plan will be carried out for approximately four to six months.
“With periodic evaluations using eye USG to comprehensively monitor progress,” he explained.
Yoga continued that Andrie Yunus’s condition is currently monitored as quite stable. Andrie is adapting well, being cooperative during treatment, and showing realistic optimism towards the recovery process.
“Until now, no signs of serious psychological disorders have been found. The medical team and professionals continue to provide routine psychological support to the patient and family,” he added.
Yoga revealed that Andrie Yunus is still under monitoring by a multidisciplinary medical team consisting of plastic surgery specialists, ophthalmologists, psychiatrists, and other related health personnel.
“On Tuesday (7/4/2026), the patient underwent surgery again to clean remaining dead skin tissue,” Yoga stated.
“(Surgery) in the back neck area and further skin grafting to support optimal healing,” he added.
The acid splashing incident against Andrie Yunus occurred on Thursday night (12/3/2026).
KontraS Working Body Coordinator Dimas Bagus Arya explained that the incident began after Andrie finished recording a podcast at the Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation office in Menteng.
