Andrie Yunus Writes to President Prabowo, Here is the Full Content!
Jakarta, VIVA – Deputy Coordinator of KontraS, Andrie Yunus, has sent a letter to the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, regarding the acid attack case against him.
Andrie Yunus wants this acid attack case to be resolved through the general court and the establishment of an independent Joint Fact-Finding Team (TGPF).
“We also brought a letter directly from Andrie Yunus, written by Andrie Yunus himself, to be submitted to the Ministry of State Secretariat,” said KontraS Coordinator Dimas Bagus Arya at the entrance gate of the Ministry of State Secretariat building in Central Jakarta on Friday, 17 April 2026.
Dimas explained that the mechanism of the general court through the Criminal Procedure Code serves as one of the supports for Andrie’s statement in determining the forum for resolving the case.
He clarified that the typology of the acid attack case against Andrie is more appropriately classified under general criminal offences rather than military criminal offences.
Military criminal offences are regulated in Law No. 3 of 2005 and relate to official misconduct, desertion, or actions by soldiers during armed conflicts or war. Meanwhile, general criminal offences are actions committed by soldiers outside their function as instruments of defence.
“Now, the problem is that there has been no change or revision to the Military Judiciary Code, Law No. 31 of 1997, which is also under judicial review by colleagues at the Constitutional Court,” he said.
He stressed that the acid attack case against Andrie Yunus is more appropriately resolved through the general court forum.
“So, today we reaffirm that the acid attack case against Andrie is more appropriate if the process is resolved in the general court forum,” Dimas said.
In addition, they also requested the formation of a TGPF because various obstacles, both political and formal legal, were assessed in handling the case.
Dimas mentioned differences in views regarding the motive of the case, where the Military Prosecutor’s Office described the motive against Andrie Yunus as a personal matter.
However, the Advocacy Team for Democracy (TAUD), based on investigations and reconstructions from several CCTV recordings, identified 16 perpetrators, not four, and suspicions of planning and surveillance before the incident that have not yet been revealed.
