JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - RSUP National Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo (RSCM) has stated that Andrie Yunus, Deputy Coordinator of KontraS, underwent his third surgery on his right eye on Saturday (28/3/2026).

“Currently, Andrie is experiencing minimal pain in his right eye and no signs of infection have been found,” said RSCM’s Legal and Public Relations Manager, Yoga Nara, in a written statement on Tuesday night (31/3/2026).

He explained that during the surgery, the surface of Andrie Yunus’s right cornea was found to be increasingly thin, with a leak in the eyeball wall.

To prevent further damage, the eyeball was patched with tissue from the patient’s limb membrane and then covered with conjunctival membrane.

Subsequently, the right eye was deliberately closed temporarily by suturing the eyelid to protect and maintain the eyeball’s shape during the healing process.

“This closure is planned to last around four months,” Yoga stated.

Yoga said that monitoring of the eye condition will be carried out periodically according to the patient’s progress.

Meanwhile, Andrie Yunus is still under observation by a multidisciplinary medical team consisting of plastic surgery specialists, ophthalmologists, and other related healthcare personnel.

The aim is to ensure the recovery process runs optimally and continuously.

“Overall, the patient’s psychological condition is quite stable despite experiencing a severe traumatic event,” Yoga revealed.

“The medical team continues to provide psychological support to ensure the patient remains calm and able to follow the treatment process optimally,” he added.

Previously reported, the acid attack case on Andrie Yunus has entered a new phase after four personnel from the TNI Strategic Intelligence Agency (BAIS) were secured in connection with alleged involvement in the incident.

They are Captain NDP, Lieutenant SL, Lieutenant BHW, and Sergeant ES.

This development also led to the resignation of BAIS TNI Head Yudi Abrimantyo as a form of accountability.
