KontraS Deputy Coordinator Andrie Yunus is now undergoing outpatient care after being a victim of an acid attack. His condition is gradually improving. “He is receiving outpatient care now,” said KontraS Coordinator Dimas Bagus Arya at Polda Metro Jaya on Wednesday (17/6/2026). Dimas stated that Andrie Yunus still needs physiotherapy to restore his motor functions. According to Dimas, Andrie has begun to perform light exercises and other mild activities. “So yesterday, the physiotherapy process, thank God, has been going well. He has started to be able to do light gymnastic movements and can also begin activities like bathing, yes, he can bathe now,” he said. “He can also eat without being spoon-fed, because after the operation, the muscles in his hand were pulled. There is a term for it, contracture. So the result of the skin operation is that if it is not moved at some point, it will become stiff,” he added. Meanwhile, Andrie Yunus’s eye condition still requires intensive care. Dimas said Andrie must undergo surgery due to the injuries he sustained. “As for his eye itself, there has been no follow-up from the doctor, no information yet. But looking at the medical team’s statement in April, there will most likely be an operation four months from April, meaning August. In August, there will be a follow-up operation for his right eye,” he explained. Andrie Yunus himself remains under the supervision of the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK). He is not yet able to provide a direct statement to the police regarding the case. “Regarding the police, we do not know yet, but even if he is examined later, the option might not be in person. Perhaps via Zoom or by correspondence. So he cannot do it directly yet because we are considering his physical condition,” he added. For context, the case of the acid attack by four Indonesian Army soldiers against KontraS activist Andrie Yunus has reached a verdict. The four soldiers who carried out the acid attack were sentenced to 1.5 to 3 years in prison. The four defendants are defendant I Second Sergeant Edi Sudarko, defendant II First Lieutenant Budhi Hariyanto Widhi, defendant III Captain Nandala Dwi Prasetyo, and defendant IV First Lieutenant Sami Lakka. The judge declared the four soldiers guilty of the acid attack on Andrie. “Legally and convincingly proven guilty of committing a criminal act as per the more subsidiary charge,” said chief judge Colonel Chk Fredy Ferdian Isnartanto at Military Court II-08 Jakarta on Wednesday (10/6/2026). The prison sentences for each defendant are as follows: 1. Second Sergeant Edi Sudarko: 3 years in prison; 2. First Lieutenant Budhi Hariyanto Widhi: 2.5 years in prison; 3. Captain Nandala Dwi Prasetyo: 2 years in prison; 4. First Lieutenant Sami Lakka: 1.5 years in prison.
