Andrie Yunus Receiving Intensive Care at HCU, KontraS States Visits Not Yet Necessary
Jakarta — Andrie Yunus, Deputy Coordinator of the Commission for the Disappeared and Victims of Violence (KontraS), continues to undergo intensive care in the high care unit (HCU) at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital in Central Jakarta.
KontraS stated that Andrie does not require direct visits from the public during his recovery process.
“We recognise that Andrie Yunus’s case has received serious attention from the public, state institutions, and international networks, however the presence or direct hospital visits are not necessary,” said Jane Rosalina, Head of KontraS’s Impunity Division, at the YLBHI office in Menteng, Central Jakarta, on Monday (16 March 2026).
The restriction on visits is intended to allow Andrie to undergo treatment and recovery in a peaceful manner. Additionally, the protection of the victim and his family is a key consideration.
She explained that Andrie sustained burns covering approximately 24 per cent of his body from caustic liquid poured by an unidentified person.
“The wounds occurred primarily on the face, particularly the right side, including the right eye, both hands, and the chest area,” she said.
Care in the unit is intensive, permitting only patients and medical staff to remain inside.
She stated that the RSCM medical team has provided initial treatment for the inflammatory reaction in Andrie’s body caused by the caustic liquid attack, particularly affecting the eye area.
However, Andrie’s medical treatment remains incomplete.
“And in relation to the skin and other matters. But that answer will be confirmed by the hospital,” Jane said.
She was unable to confirm the length of Andrie’s recovery process. Jane cited the example of Novel Baswedan’s caustic liquid attack case, which required months of recovery.
