Andrie Yunus Forgives the Acid Thrower, But the Masterminds Must Be Uncovered

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Deputy Coordinator of the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (KontraS), Andrie Yunus, conveyed a message to fellow activists who visited him at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM) in Central Jakarta.

One of Andrie Yunus’s messages was to forgive all parties related to the acid attack case against him, including the perpetrator of the acid throwing.

“Andrie Yunus continues to urge not to forget to forgive the perpetrators for the sake of humanity,” said the Head of the Impunity Monitoring Division of KontraS, Jane Rosalina, when confirmed by Kompas.com on Wednesday (1/4/2026).

“But it must still be voiced and demanded for comprehensive accountability, both from the field actors and the intellectual ones,” she continued.

When asked about the response to developments in the legal handling of the acid attack case, Jane stated that fellow activists do not want to burden Andrie Yunus’s mind.

Therefore, during the visit to Andrie, the activists did not want to discuss the case.

“We just shared funny and enjoyable things for Andrie’s healing and recovery,” Jane said.

Usman once saw Andrie react to his presence. He also conveyed several messages to Andrie Yunus.

“I myself have not asked him to speak. Perhaps because I happened to meet him when Andrie was still resting,” Usman said when confirmed by Kompas.com.

“He just stared at me when I cried while saying ‘Ouch Andrie, finally what I feared has happened’,” he continued.

At that time, Usman repeated a message for Andrie Yunus to always be careful.

Because since the incident when Andrie Yunus attended the working committee (Panja) meeting for the TNI Bill at the Fairmont Hotel in 2025, many parties were unhappy.
