Andrie Yunus Files Suit, Refuses Military Investigation into His Case

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - In addition to at the Military Court II-08 Jakarta, the acid attack case against Deputy Coordinator of KontraS Andrie Yunus is also proceeding at the Jakarta Selatan District Court through a praperadilan lawsuit. In his petition, Andrie, through his legal team, the Advocacy Team for Democracy (TAUD), sues several points. The core of the suit is the investigation into the case from Report Model A that was terminated in an unclear manner by the Metro Jaya Regional Police. Andrie asks that the judge declare the termination of the investigation to be unlawful, and urges the investigators to continue their inquiry. He also requests that the Metro Jaya Police Chief and the Director of General Criminal Investigation of the Metro Jaya Police attend the proceedings. This relates to the handing over of evidence by the police to the Pusat Polisi Militer (Puspom) TNI. The counsel for the defendant, Muhammad Al-Ayubi Harahap, says that this action means the police no longer meet the requirements of an investigation, namely having at least two pieces of evidence. “The statements of the Respondent and the information on the handing over of evidence to Puspom TNI must also be interpreted as strong indications that an investigation has been covertly terminated because the Respondent, without evidence, in reality no longer exercises investigative authority effectively but instead hands over the substance of case handling to another institution without a clear, open, and testable legal decision,” Ayubi said in court, Wednesday (20/5/2026). Another counsel, Iqbal Muharam Nurfahmi, revealed a different statement from the police regarding the handover. Initially, the Director of General Criminal Investigation of the Metro Jaya Police, COMR. Iman Imanuddin, in a Public Hearing (RDPU) of the DPR’s Commission III on 31 March 2026, stated that the case had been handed over to Puspom TNI. At the time, however, the police already had many leads and had moved the case to the investigative stage. Subsequently, the Head of Public Relations for the Metro Jaya Police, COMR. Budi Hermanto, also conveyed similar remarks to media on the following day, 1 April 2026. He again emphasised the police position that it no longer had authority to investigate the case.
