Jakarta (ANTARA) - House of Representatives Speaker Puan Maharani has called for a fair and just legal process in the acid attack case against KontraS activist Andrie Yunus, which is soon to be tried. “Provide a fair process, as fair as possible,” Puan said when met in the parliamentary complex, Senayan, Jakarta, on Thursday. Andrie Yunus, who is the Deputy Coordinator of the Commission for the Disappeared and Victims of Violence (KontraS), was doused with acid in the Salemba area, Central Jakarta, on Thursday night (12/3). The incident happened after Andrie finished recording a podcast at the Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation office discussing the topic of militarism and the judicial review of the TNI Law. In developments, the Military Police have named four members of the TNI Strategic Intelligence Agency (BAIS) as suspects, namely Captain NDP, First Lieutenant SL, First Lieutenant BHW, and Second Sergeant ES. All four are now defendants after the case file was handed over to the Military Court II-08 Jakarta. The Head of Military Court II-08 Jakarta, Colonel Chk Fredy Ferdian Isnartanto, stated that the first trial session for this case is scheduled for Wednesday, 29 April 2026. The agenda for the first session is the reading of the indictment. Fredy said the defendants will be presented directly in the courtroom. Their presence is mandatory as part of the process of reading the charges by the military prosecutor. Military Court II-08 Jakarta has also ensured that the trial will be open to the public. The public, including the press, is invited to follow the proceedings to ensure transparency in the legal process. “The trial is open to the public, just like in the state court. The public and media are welcome to come and monitor the trial,” Fredy said at Military Court II-08 Jakarta on Thursday.
