Jakarta, Kompas.com - The Military Court II-08 Jakarta has responded to a report by the Advocacy Team for Democracy (TAUD) to the Supreme Court (MA) regarding alleged ethical violations by the military judges who preside over the acid-splash case involving Andrie Yunus, the Deputy Coordinator of KontraS.

Spokesperson for Military Court II-08 Jakarta, Major Endah Wulandari, said the filing is the public’s right to provide corrections. ‘The report submitted by TAUD to the MA is a right to provide corrections to us at the Military Court,’ she said via WhatsApp on Wednesday, 20 May 2026. ‘So we regard this as a channel for the public, especially the parties who are dissatisfied.’

Endah added that the continued proceedings in the acid-splash case will schedule the reading of the indictment from the Military Oditurat II-07. ‘At present, the trial is ongoing; let us follow and monitor the process together, and do not create the impression in the public that there are things that could undermine the court’s independence,’ she said.

Earlier, three judges of Military Court II-08 Jakarta were reported by TAUD to the Supreme Court’s Supervisory Chamber over alleged ethical violations on Monday, 18 May 2026. They were Freddy Ferdian Isnartanto, Irwan Tasri, and Zainal Abidin.

The report was triggered by actions and remarks deemed inappropriate by the panel inside the courtroom. TAUD representative Daniel Winarta said the actions demonstrated a lack of professionalism and loss of muruah, a judge’s dignity, during the proceedings. ‘There were inappropriate remarks in court such as calling someone goblok, and also giving the impression of providing the correct method for pouring acid,’ Daniel told reporters at the Supreme Court on Monday.

The judges were also said to have violated procedure by handling evidence without wearing gloves. Additionally, the report claimed they breached ethics by pressuring the military oditur to compel Andrie Yunus to appear, even threatening to prosecute him if he did not testify.
