The construction of Telkomsel’s Base Transceiver Station (BTS) in the Sitinjau Lauik area, Lubuk Kilangan Subdistrict, Padang City, has been completed. Deputy Chairman of DPR RI Commission VI Andre Rosiade has commended this achievement.

Andre assessed that the construction was finished on schedule, as stated by Telkomsel Padang’s Manager of Network Operation Productivity, Andy Suapril, namely before Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah. Andre stated that the presence of this BTS is highly strategic because the availability of telecommunications networks on accident-prone and landslide-vulnerable routes can support road user safety and accelerate responses in emergency situations.

“Sitinjau Lauik is prone to disasters and accidents. We want to ensure that the community can get a good signal. If there is an emergency, communication can be done quickly. Alhamdulillah, migrants returning home for Eid will no longer lose signal in this area,” Andre explained in his statement on Saturday (21/3/2026).

Andre further explained that the BTS construction is a manifestation of the Government’s commitment to strengthening digital infrastructure in West Sumatra. For this Chairman of the Gerindra Party’s West Sumatra DPD, the collaboration between DPR RI and Telkomsel is a concrete step to address communication blank spots on the vital Padang-Solok route.

“This is the commitment of the Prabowo Subianto administration to continue improving services to the community, especially in West Sumatra. Now, the community and migrants can enjoy a more stable signal throughout the Padang-Solok journey via Sitinjau Lauik,” Andre clarified.

On the same occasion, Andy Suapril stated that the Sitinjau Lauik BTS is officially operational before Eid al-Fitr thanks to the hard work of the deployment team and support from various parties. He mentioned the excellent cross-sector collaboration, including support from Andre, the local government, and the community. This support ensured the Sitinjau Lauik BTS network construction was completed on time.

“The presence of this network is dedicated to Telkomsel’s loyal customers who traverse this panoramic and strategic route. May it provide real benefits and add to the comfort of the community’s travels,” Andy said.

The BTS tower in Sitinjau Lauik stands at 72 metres tall. This BTS is projected to cover up to the Panorama II area and support network needs around the planned Sitinjau Lauik flyover project.

In addition, network optimisation from the Bukit Subang BTS in Solok Regency has also been carried out to ensure the Padang-Solok route is increasingly free from signal disruptions. The presence of this BTS is expected to have a direct impact on the community and road users, particularly in strengthening connectivity on vulnerable routes, accelerating emergency responses during accidents, and supporting the smooth mobility of migrants and tourists during the Eid homecoming season.
